Philippine Airlines Takes Delivery of First Airbus A350-1000

Philippine Airlines has taken delivery of its first Airbus A350-1000, becoming the 10th airline worldwide to operate the largest variant of Airbus’s long-range A350 family. The delivery marks a major milestone in the flag carrier’s fleet modernisation program and signals a new phase in its long-haul growth strategy.
The arrival of the aircraft represents the first of nine A350-1000s on order, forming part of Philippine Airlines’ broader fleet expansion and renewal strategy. The new aircraft will complement the airline’s existing fleet of Airbus A350-900 jets, which are already deployed on long-haul routes, particularly across the Pacific.

Configured in a premium three-class layout with 382 seats, the A350-1000 is set to play a central role in Philippine Airlines’ transpacific operations. The aircraft’s extended range, higher capacity, and improved fuel efficiency will allow the airline to strengthen existing long-haul services while opening the door to additional non-stop routes to key destinations in North America. These capabilities support rising demand and enhance connectivity between the Philippines and the United States.
Philippine Airlines Long‑Haul Fleet (as of late 2025)
Philippine Airlines is in the middle of a major long‑haul fleet renewal centered on the Airbus A350 family, with the first A350‑1000 now delivered and more on the way. PAL currently operates:
- 11 A330-300, to be refurbished from 2027.
- 2 A350‑900
- 1 A350‑1000, with 8 on order with deliveries running through 2027.
- 10 777-300ER, to be refurbished from 2027, including two ex-Garuda Indonesia aircraft retaining their original configuration.
The A350‑1000 is replacing older long‑haul aircraft and strengthening PAL’s transpacific network. It features a new tri‑class cabin and is expected to serve major U.S. destinations such as New York, Los Angeles, Seattle, and San Francisco starting in early 2026
Together, the A350-900 and A350-1000 fleets will enable Philippine Airlines to increase long-haul capacity while improving operational efficiency, reducing emissions, and enhancing reliability. The introduction of the A350-1000 also supports the airline’s focus on elevating the passenger experience through quieter cabins, improved comfort, and modern onboard amenities, as it continues to rebuild and expand its global network.
