Philippine Airlines Teams with Qatar for Doha Flights

Philippine Airlines has forged a strategic partnership and codeshare agreement with Qatar Airways to coincide with the launch of daily nonstop flights between Manila and Doha beginning June 16, 2025. Under the new arrangement, Qatar Airways will place its code on Philippine Airlines’ PR684 service, operating five weekly departures during the initial phase, before ramping up to daily flights. The partnership enables travellers from the Philippines to connect seamlessly to more than 170 destinations across Qatar Airways’ global network, spanning Africa, the Americas, Central Asia, Europe and the Middle East.
Flight PR684 departs Manila Ninoy Aquino International Airport at 18:50 and arrives at Doha’s Hamad International Airport at 23:40, timed to offer convenient onward connections. Eastbound customers arriving on Qatar Airways flights will have access to Philippine Airlines’ return flight PR685, which departs Doha at 01:30 and lands back in Manila at 16:15 the same day, taking full advantage of efficient schedule coordination between the two carriers.
“At Qatar Airways, we continue to explore opportunities that strengthen our connectivity across the world, and our latest partnership with Philippine Airlines is a testament to this commitment,” said Thierry Antinori, Chief Commercial Officer of Qatar Airways. “This strategic cooperation also aims to deepen the socio-economic ties between the Qatari and Filipino communities. We are proud of the new codeshare flights and look forward to delivering increased benefits to global travellers.”
Captain Stanley K. Ng, President and Chief Operating Officer of Philippine Airlines, added, “As Philippine Airlines expands its presence across the globe, we are delighted to forge new alliances that enable us to build new connections and give our business and leisure passengers more flexibility and seamless access in flying to their desired destinations. Our decision to offer daily frequency to Doha is enabled by our exciting strategic partnership with Qatar Airways and will help stimulate tourism, trade flows and business growth in the context of the strong bilateral relationship between the Philippines and Qatar. Our vital Overseas Filipino Workers and their families will also greatly benefit from this new partnership.”
The daily Manila–Doha service will be operated by Philippine Airlines’ Airbus A330-300 aircraft, configured to carry 359 passengers in two classes: 18 full-flat seats in business class and 341 in economy. Powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 700 engines, each A330-300 in the PAL fleet averages just over 11 years of service. The aircraft type was chosen for its range, fuel efficiency and comfort, ensuring a premium experience on the 7,300-kilometre (4,540-mile) journey.
Qatar Airways and Philippine Airlines have committed to explore further long-term collaboration, including joint promotion of destinations in each carrier’s network and reciprocal benefits for frequent flyer members. These initiatives aim to deepen commercial ties and offer enhanced value for passengers through combined loyalty programs, streamlined ticketing and shared lounge access.
The Manila–Doha codeshare follows Qatar Airways’ decision to start its own daily service on the route, creating new market opportunities for both airlines. By leveraging each other’s strengths—Qatar Airways’ expansive global reach and Philippine Airlines’ home-base connectivity—travellers from Southeast Asia and beyond gain unprecedented access to a wider range of international destinations. As the partnership takes flight in June 2025, it underscores both carriers’ commitment to expanding choice, convenience and economic linkages between the Philippines and Qatar.
