Experiencing Wonder Of The Seas
The world’s largest cruise ship, Wonder Of The Seas, departed for its maiden voyage on March 4th from the Royal Caribbean Terminal in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. With room for 6,988 total guests, Wonder Of The Seas offers a large variety of activities and events for its guests to enjoy while aboard the city-sized ship. To see what this ship has to offer, scroll through our slideshow and get an up-close view.
Wonderland
Experience the imaginative cuisine venue Wonderland on the 12th deck aboard Wonder. Every detail inside the restaurant immerses you into a real-life Alice in Wonderland experience. Be on the lookout for the Mad Hatter and other characters as you enjoy a visually aesthetic and fine dining experience.
Vitality Bar
Whether you just finished a good workout or are looking for a healthy food and beverage option, look no further than the Vitality Bar. Located right outside of the spa and fitness center on deck six, the vitality bar serves up a mix of smoothies, juices and protein snacks that give you the energy you crave.
Gym
Located on the sixth deck is the extremely large fitness center. Inside the center, you will find free weights, treadmills, ellipticals and even a spinning room with classes led by the professionally trained staff. This gym is so large that you are able to choose which side of the ship you would like to have a view of while enjoying your workout.
Rock Walls
With two walls and eight different climbing configurations to choose from, these rock walls allow both beginner and expert climbers an opportunity to climb while at sea. Not only is the climbing great but so is the view.
Aquatheater
The Aquatheater provides the perfect venue for aerobatic and aquatic entertainment. Royal Caribbean has created its newest show: Intense, which was designed specifically for Wonder’s aquatic theater. With its all-female cast, Intense is a brand new show you don’t want to miss.
Rising Tide Bar
Another familiar sight that you will encounter on either the fifth or eighth deck is the Rising Tide Bar. With departures every half hour, you can enjoy a quick cocktail while your bar changes decks with you. Just remember before you board, there is no bathroom at this bar.
Music Theater
Comprised of two stories, you will be able to enjoy the variety of music being played at the music hall whether you are a dancer or just a socializer. Downstairs you will find ample seating, a dance floor and bar. On the second floor you will find a mostly standing room with a bar and pool table located towards the rear of the hall.
Solarium Bistro
Just next to the adults-only solarium you will find the Solarium Bistro. This restaurant focus on smaller portions and mainly serves healthy meal options in comparison to the other restaurants onboard. For a lighter or healthier meal, make your way to the Solarium Bistro.
Hooked Seafood
If you need to satisfy your seafood craving while at sea, Hooked Seafood will have all of the options you are looking for. This premium restaurant offers great seafood and a great view. Don’t forget to make reservations as the dining area can only accommodate a smaller crowd.
Veu Bar
Designed to let cruisers enjoy a cocktail with panoramic views of the ocean, the outdoor Veu Bar is the place to catch the sunset (depending on your cruising direction). With seating for around 25 to 30 people, the Veu Bar is a great place to hang out with a small crowd.
Splashaway Bay
With waterslides and interactive water-themed attractions, this water activity park is a great place to bring kids that have a lot of energy and want to do just a little more than swim in the pool. If you feel up to it, adults are allowed on the water slides as well!
The Mason Jar
With its debut on Wonder, the Mason Jar is the spicy southern take on dining. From biscuits and gravy to chicken and waffles, the Mason Jar can satisfy your southern food fix. This specialty restaurant also includes a bar and occasionally has live country music performing during brunch and dinner.
Outdoor Track
If you are in the mood for a run but don’t want to feel trapped in the gym, you will be happy to find out that Wonder has an extremely large outdoor running and walking track. With multiple access points, this track provides views from every angle of the ship no matter where you drop in from. Be sure to watch out for wet surfaces as this track is exposed to the elements.
Bionic Bar
A bar, but no bartender. You read that right. This digital-only bar lets you create and craft the cocktail of your choosing on an iPad-styled device. After inputting your order, you can watch as the robots create your drink. This place is great for those that have trouble getting the bartender’s attention.
IZUMI Sushi and Hibatchi
With your choice of sushi or hibachi, Izumi provides an upscale dining experience accompanied by great overwater views. Reservations are required with availability for lunch or dinner.
Adventure Ocean
Are you thinking about bringing your extra young ones with you on Wonder but are trying to find out if you will have time to yourself? Enter Adventure Ocean. This children’s facility gives your little ones a lot to keep them happy and occupied while you enjoy some well-deserved R&R.
Suite Room
These spacious rooms have both a bedroom and living area that can be separated by a sun curtain. You won’t feel far from home as these rooms look and feel much larger than most hotel rooms. With balcony seating for six, feel free to invite friends over to enjoy the sunset.
Suite Level Deck
Reserved exclusively for suite-level guests, this sun deck and pool area is the perfect place to enjoy a day at sea while avoiding the crowds. With poolside loungers providing an unobstructed view of the ocean, this view is definitely worth paying more for.
Social 100
Just for teens. This social club acts as a central hangout spot for your young adults ages 13-17. With a modern and hip look, this is a place where your teen will actually want to hang out.
FLOWrider
Though Royal Caribbean decided to install only one flow rider on Wonder of the Seas, the good news is that I never saw a long line. With instruction available, you can learn to ride the wave or just people watch and enjoy the up-close wipeouts.
Zipline
This on-ship zip line is only for those without a fear of heights. Riding across the zip line you can look down and see the boardwalk eight stories below. Built for both kids and adults, this zip line will satisfy any adrenaline junkies’ needs.
El Loco Fresh
With a buffet-style setup, this Mexican restaurant serves both lunch and early dinner to diners. Important to know that El loco closes early at 6 p.m. and is not available for late-night dining. Though outdoors, this restaurant is fully covered and provides a great view from the pool level deck.
Table Tennis Courts
Located on the pool deck level are 3 ping pong tables surrounded by a full glass enclosure to keep the wind out. These tables are accessible 24/7 with paddles and balls stored inside the enclosure.
Outdoor Pools
There are three different outdoor pools located on deck fifteen. One is a beach pool located across from Splashaway bay while the other two are regular swimming pools located just aft of the beach pool. All pools have lifeguards on duty, and lounge chairs are provided both inside and outside of the pool.
Solarium
This adults-only area lets sailers experience the same sun deck experience with the exception of kids. Here cruisers can enjoy pool loungers, pools and hot tubs. Additionally, there is a bar located in the center of the solarium available for sit-down or takeaway drink options.
Casino
For the cruisers looking to place their bets and play a variety of vegas style gambling games, the casino offers 24/7 access to just that. Though some machines are turned off during low traffic times, just find a local staffer to activate the game of your choice.
Main Dinning Room
The main dining room aboard the Wonder spans three decks high and allows diners to experience a traditional sit-down meal with extremely high ceilings. The general dining restaurant also provides cruisers with the option to upgrade to premium food selections like lobster and selective meats.
Schooner Bar
This is the place to have a relaxing evening with friends and enjoy the pianist and vocalist singing from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. One of the best drinks I had on board was the lavender daiquiri which is the specialty of the Schooner. When looking for live music be on the lookout for Andy C, you will not be disappointed.
Johnny Rockets
A familiar face for previous cruisers, Johnny Rockets provides a dining experience from the 60s that brings you back in time. If you are in the mood for a burger, fries or milkshake, Johnny is the place to go! This is a specialty restaurant but its dining prices are much cheaper than other onboard dining options.
The Carousel
For a fun state fair experience, you can find the carousel located on the boardwalk towards the aft end of the Wonder. With no limit on how often you can ride you can come back as much as you would like and have the royal Caribbean staff member operate the ride for you. No reservation is required and included in the cruise ticket price.
Sorrentos
Open until 3am, Sorrento’s is serving up pizza and salad on deck five late into the night. The pizza parlor doesn’t require a reservation and is available to all passengers. During normal dinner hours bands can been seen just across the street playing a variety of genres. Also located inside the Sorrentos is one of the many coke refill stations that are located throughout the boat for those with beverage plans.
Cafe Promenade
Also located on deck five and right across the street from Sorrentos is Cafe Promenade. Outside the cafe is a classic red mustang that is perfect for a photo opportunity. Inside the cafe, you will find a list of cafe-style beverages and a shortlist of cafe-style snacks.
Playmakers
If your in the mood for a sports bar type of dining option, Playmakers will fit your fix. The restaurant and bar is filled with a ton of TVs that have a variety of different channels playing. The restaurant isn’t included in the complimentary dining plan but does have a lower sticker price in comparison to the higher-end restaurants.
Dog House
The Dog House is a great place to grab a quick bite with multiple hotdog options. You can go with traditional all-beef, sausage and even chicken and apple. You won’t find any seating options here as the three tables nearby are standing room only.
Spotlight Karaoke
One of the most hopping places during the inaugural sailing was the spotlight karaoke bar. With people and music always around, it is a natural draw to the social bug and anyone wanting to have some fun singing and watching karaoke.
Royal Theater
With hundreds of seats available for passengers to watch headline shows, the Royal theater is the place to be after 6 p.m. Note that shows are included with the purchase of cruise tickets but reservations for shows are required. The theater is divided into two levels and can be accessed from both deck five and deck six.
Studio B
Located in the center of the ship on deck four, Studio B is home to the ice rink and ice show 365. Showings are in the evenings and require a reservation. The ship also opens the rink for passengers to skate at various times during the cruise.
