Viking

Explore the Viking Radgrid
Viking launched their first river sailing in 1997, followed by ocean voyages and expeditions. 25 years later, they have welcomed eight new Viking Longships to their award-winning fleet. And in March 2022, these magnificent ships were named and blessed by their new godmothers in a ceremony held in Paris. Four of these new Viking ships are sailing on France’s River Seine, while the remaining boats sail from Amsterdam. We had the pleasure of staying on the Viking Radgrid and taking a mini cruise to three of northern France’s charming cities.

Viking Longships Naming Ceremony
During the Viking naming ceremony, each of the godmothers were accompanied by their Viking ship captain. Each bless their boat with “May your passengers and crew always be safe, and may you always have a hand’s width of water beneath your keel.” The youngest godmother then released doves in the name of peace, followed by flock of others.

The Atrium
This stunning atrium is the passenger’s first glimpse of the interior ship. The airy lobby is the heart of the ship where guest services staff welcome you on board and happily assist throughout your journey.

The Library
A thoughtfully curated book collection is located on the ship’s third deck. This is also a relaxed seating area where passengers can gather to chat or peruse the library selection.

The Lounge
The ideal place to gather with fellow travelers, the lounge features bar libations, comfortable seating, expansive views, live piano music, and Viking’s special enrichment programs like cheese and cognac tastings.

Aquavit Terrace
The chic indoor/outdoor seating area is located at the bow of the ship. Guests can relax with a glass of wine or cocktail or dine al fresco with stunning river views. Service here and in the main dining room is exquisite.

The Dining Room
Radgrid’s impressive and roomy main dining room features daily-changing menus highlighting regional specialties and destination-focused dining created with the freshest of local ingredients. Views are impressive from its floor to ceiling windows.

Veranda Stateroom
This 305 square foot stateroom offers unparalleled river views with a sliding glass door opening to a full-sized veranda with seating. Rooms feature understated Scandinavian elegance and bathrooms sport heated floors and top-end bath products.

Explorer Suite
Treat yourself on your next river cruise. Viking’s Explorer Suite boasts 445 square feet of space in this accommodation with a separate living room and private wraparound balcony with picturesque 270-degree river views.

Paris Views from Aquavit Terrace
There’s nothing like Paris at night, or Amsterdam for that matter. Our night views of Paris from the Aquavit Terrace were magnificent, like this one of the iconic Eiffel Tower. It’s simply magical!
