Phu Quoc International Airport Expands with New Routes to China and Australia
Phu Quoc International Airport (PQC), nestled in the scenic south of Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam, continues to enhance its connectivity with new routes to China and Australia. Managed by the Airports Corporation of Vietnam, PQC boasts an annual capacity of 2.65 million passengers and serves major airlines like Vietjet, Vietnam Airlines, and international carriers including Korean Air and Jin Air.
In June, Vietjet launched new services from PQC to Taichung three times weekly and Kaohsiung four times weekly, meeting rising tourist demands for travel and exploration. Vietjet’s upcoming route to New Delhi starting September 9 and increased frequencies to Seoul and Taipei further strengthen PQC’s regional connections.
Tigerair Taiwan also joined the fray in April with direct flights between Taoyuan and Phu Quoc, expanding its footprint in Southeast Asia. Vietravel Airlines is set to commence operations to Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport on August 1, enhancing Phu Quoc’s accessibility.
The island’s popularity is evident, with international tourist arrivals in Q1 2024 soaring by 200% compared to the previous year, fueled by Vietnam’s expanded visa-free access to 80 new countries across Asia, Latin America, and Europe.
As a member of Routes 360, a premier platform for route development, PQC continues to explore new opportunities to meet growing travel demands and bolster air connectivity. Key unserved routes include Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Sydney, and Melbourne, highlighting PQC’s commitment to expanding its network and fostering tourism growth.
