Pittsburgh pandemic hotel nears end of year-plus run
A county- and nonprofit-run hotel in Pittsburgh that’s been a free refuge from the pandemic for the vulnerable since April of last year has a new grant to keep going — briefly. “Right now, our goal is very much to shut down by Sept. 30 and — knock on wood — never have to do this again,” Allegheny County official Cynthia Shields says of the Safe Haven Hotel.
