The Port of Montreal has officially launched its 2025 cruise season with the arrival of Victory Cruise Lines’ Victory I, marking the start of a busy season that is expected to bring nearly 60,000 passengers and crew members to the city. This year, the season will feature 42 cruise operations with 21 ships from 13 different cruise lines. Among the new vessels making their debut in Montreal are Seven Seas Splendor (Regent Seven Seas Cruises), Silver Shadow (Silversea Cruises), and Allura (Oceania Cruises).

Julie Gascon, President and CEO of the Port of Montreal, shared her excitement about the launch: “The Port of Montreal is proud to launch a new cruise season that showcases the vitality of our city and its appeal to cruise lines and travelers from around the world.”

In 2024, the cruise sector contributed an estimated $25 million to the local economy, not including the significant additional impact of river excursions, which attracted nearly 120,000 passengers. Cruise ship arrivals directly benefit the city’s economy by supporting local businesses, including shops, restaurants, and tourist attractions, while also creating jobs in the region.

Victory I has a long history with Montreal, first calling at the port under the name Saint-Laurent in 2016. During this year’s inaugural stopover, a commemorative plaque was presented to Victory Cruise Lines owner John Waggoner, recognizing the company’s continued commitment to Montreal as a key destination for luxury cruising.

The cruise season also marks the return of summer programming at the Grand Quai, with exciting events such as C2 Montréal, the Climate Summit, Startupfest, and the Martinique Gourmande festival. These events offer a wide range of activities for both visitors and locals. Additional attractions, including the green roof, Commencement Square, and the Port of Montreal Tower, provide spectacular views of the city and its waterfront.

As the port welcomes a busy cruise season, the addition of new ships and an increasing number of visitors highlights Montreal’s growing appeal as a premier cruise destination in North America.
