Porter Launches Montréal MET Hub With 12 New Routes

Porter Airlines will launch operations from Montréal Metropolitan Airport on June 15, establishing the revitalized facility as its primary hub in the city and significantly expanding its domestic network across Canada.
The airline plans to introduce 12 routes linking Montréal MET with key destinations nationwide. Services will include daily flights to Québec City and St. John’s, as well as frequent connections to Toronto Billy Bishop City Centre and Toronto Pearson. Western Canada routes will cover Vancouver, Edmonton, and Calgary, while eastern services will connect Halifax, Charlottetown, Moncton, and Winnipeg. Flights to Hamilton will also be included in the rollout.
The schedule reflects a mix of high-frequency business routes and leisure-focused destinations, with Toronto Billy Bishop seeing up to 27 weekly flights and Toronto Pearson up to 20. Vancouver and Halifax will each receive double-daily service, highlighting Porter’s focus on both transcontinental and regional connectivity.
Operations will be supported by Porter’s growing fleet of De Havilland Canada Dash 8-400 turboprops and Embraer E195-E2 jets. The airline currently operates 29 Q400 aircraft and 52 E195-E2s, enabling it to tailor capacity and range to different markets.
The launch coincides with the reopening and modernization of Montréal Metropolitan Airport, which is positioned to handle increased passenger volumes and support expanded airline operations. Porter said the new base will drive a 91 percent increase in peak summer capacity in the Montréal region compared to the previous year, including the introduction of six new nonstop destinations.
In total, Porter expects to operate up to 244 weekly departures from Montréal, with 138 flights from Montréal MET and 106 from Montréal Trudeau Airport. This dual-airport strategy allows the airline to optimize route planning while offering passengers greater choice and convenience.
Pascan Aviation, a regional partner also based at Montréal MET, will enhance connectivity by linking smaller communities across Québec and the Maritimes into Porter’s expanding network. The partnership is expected to strengthen feeder traffic and improve access to underserved regional markets.
Porter’s expansion underscores its broader strategy to grow its footprint in Eastern Canada while leveraging new infrastructure to support higher capacity and improved passenger experience.
