PortMiami Breaks Record with 10 Cruise Ships in One Day

PortMiami has shattered its previous records by hosting the most cruise ships in a single day. On Saturday, the busy port welcomed an impressive fleet of 10 cruise vessels, including Carnival Magic, Carnival Sunrise, Zaandam, MSC Seascape, Norwegian Escape, Norwegian Gem, Oceania Sirena, Icon of the Seas, Independence of the Seas, and Scarlet Lady.
This record-breaking event marked a significant milestone for PortMiami, with nearly 68,000 passengers estimated to be onboard the ships. The day’s success further solidifies the port’s reputation as the premier departure point for major cruise lines, cementing Miami-Dade’s place as a central hub for global cruise tourism.
“It is no surprise PortMiami and the cruise industry continue to break records,” said Daniella Levine Cava, mayor of Miami-Dade County. “PortMiami is the departure choice for all major cruise lines. As a destination, Miami-Dade is undoubtedly the center of world cruise tourism with incredible weather, culture, and unlimited options for exciting experiences.”
In addition to this remarkable achievement, PortMiami recently celebrated the debut of shore power technology, which allows cruise ships to power down their engines while docked. This innovation helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions and noise, further emphasizing PortMiami’s commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.
With the increasing popularity of cruise tourism, PortMiami is expected to remain a key player in the global cruise industry, offering unmatched services and amenities to both passengers and cruise operators.
