PortMiami Makes History as the First Seaport with a Global Entry Enrollment Center

PortMiami has achieved a groundbreaking milestone by becoming the first seaport in the nation to host a Global Entry Enrollment Center, providing cruisers with a convenient way to streamline their customs process. This federal program is designed to expedite entry for travelers, allowing them to navigate customs more swiftly.

In a recent development, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has opened a Global Entry Enrollment Center at PortMiami, marking a significant step in facilitating the enrollment process for international travelers departing on cruises. The center, situated in Cruise Terminal D, offers a range of services, including assistance with completing applications and conducting in-person interviews—a crucial step for enrollment.

Carlos Martel, the field operations director at the Miami-Tampa Field Office, emphasized the proactive nature of this initiative by PortMiami. “This is a proactive endeavor and benefit offered by the Miami seaport to help expedite the Global Entry application process for international travelers departing on a cruise,” Martel stated.

Global Entry, a trusted traveler program, caters to low-risk, pre-approved travelers arriving from international destinations via air, land, or sea. With Global Entry status, travelers gain the privilege of using automated kiosks, bypassing the need to wait in lengthy lines to interact with a customs agent. To further enhance the process, U.S. Customs and Border Protection has recently introduced a new Global Entry mobile app, providing an additional layer of efficiency for program participants.
