Prime Numbers Adds Carbon Data Capabilities
Data analytics provider Prime Numbers Technology has added carbon emission reporting for air, car, hotel and rail travel to its Prime Analytics software, the company announced.
The software, which is used both by companies for their travel programs and travel management companies, is using a variety of sources to calculate emissions, Prime Numbers president Mark Bresnahan said. Car emissions are sourced from the U.K. Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs, and Prime Numbers also is using DEFRA for air emissions calculations, alongside the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the company’s own legacy calculation. For hotels, Prime Numbers is using the Cornell Hotel Sustainability Benchmark index where available and HotelFootprints.org to fill the gaps for countries not included in the index. Rail carbon calculations come directly from the vendor, with DEFRA and other sources supplementing when direct data is not available, Bresnahan said.
Prime Numbers also is now integrating with preferred carbon offset providers for offset purchase, and it is working on a carbon budget analysis tool for companies to monitor and manage their net carbon impact, according to the company.
