Qatar Airways Equips A350 with Starlink WiFi

Qatar Airways is set to push the boundaries of inflight connectivity by beginning the installation of SpaceX’s Starlink WiFi on its fleet of Airbus A350 aircraft starting in April 2025. This ambitious upgrade follows the airline’s successful rollout of Starlink connectivity on 80% of its Boeing 777 fleet, marking one of the fastest and most extensive implementations of the technology in the aviation industry. On April 7, 2025, Qatar Airways announced that it is only a few aircraft away from completing its full fleet-wide upgrade for the Boeing 777s, further underscoring its commitment to redefining passenger experience by ensuring seamless, high-speed internet access at 35,000 feet.
The new installation on the Airbus A350 will make Qatar Airways the world’s first airline to bring Starlink connectivity to this widebody aircraft type, setting a new industry standard for inflight internet services. Qatar Airways CEO Mohammed Al-Meer highlighted the significance of the move by saying that the upcoming equipping of the A350 with Starlink represents another bold step in the airline’s journey to enhance connectivity in the skies. He added that the initiative reaffirms the carrier’s ongoing efforts to improve its onboard WiFi experience, ensuring that passengers enjoy greater comfort, convenience, and service during their flights.
This technological advancement comes at a time when passengers increasingly demand reliable and fast connectivity during air travel. With Starlink’s cutting-edge satellite technology, Qatar Airways aims to deliver enhanced inflight WiFi that will support not only entertainment and communication needs but also productivity and business operations for frequent flyers. The airline’s dedication to deploying state-of-the-art connectivity solutions is evident from its track record, having already operated 6,000 Boeing 777 flights with Starlink connectivity. This success has built significant momentum for the airline as it now embarks on extending the benefits of this technology to its Airbus A350 fleet.
Qatar Airways first introduced the concept of using Starlink technology during the Aircraft Interior Expo held in Hamburg, Germany from May 28 to May 30, 2024. The announcement generated widespread interest among industry experts and passengers alike, as it signaled a major shift toward more advanced and reliable inflight connectivity. The milestone was further cemented on October 22, 2024, when the first Starlink-equipped Qatar Airways aircraft departed from Doha’s Hamad International Airport bound for London Heathrow Airport. To mark that historic flight, the airline made its announcement while flying at 35,000 feet, capturing the attention of a global audience and setting the stage for future innovations in aviation connectivity.
As Qatar Airways prepares to extend its Starlink upgrade to the Airbus A350, the move is expected to enhance the overall travel experience for millions of passengers worldwide. The airline’s strategy to invest in advanced connectivity technology reflects its broader commitment to customer satisfaction and technological leadership in the aviation sector. With the integration of Starlink WiFi into both its Boeing 777 and Airbus A350 fleets, Qatar Airways is positioning itself at the forefront of inflight connectivity innovation, ensuring that its passengers remain connected and productive, no matter where their journey takes them.
