Qatar Airways is set to revive its daily flight services from Doha’s Hamad International Airport (DOH) to Canberra Airport (CBR), marking a significant return to the Australian capital. The reinstated flights will operate via Melbourne Airport (MEL), approximately one hour’s flight from Canberra, covering a total journey time of over 14 hours from Doha.

Scheduled to commence in December 2025, the new flights will be operated using Qatar Airways’ fleet of Boeing 777 aircraft. These state-of-the-art planes feature the renowned QSuite Business Class cabin, offering passengers an enhanced travel experience with private suites, lie-flat beds, and exclusive amenities. Additionally, all flights will be equipped with complimentary high-speed Starlink connectivity, ensuring passengers stay connected throughout their journey.

Qatar Airways initially launched flights to Canberra in 2018, aiming to cater to the growing demand for international travel to Australia’s political and cultural hub. However, the service was suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic due to global travel restrictions and reduced passenger demand. The relaunch signifies Qatar Airways’ confidence in the resurgence of international travel and the strategic importance of Canberra as a key destination.

Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, Group Chief Executive Officer of Qatar Airways, expressed his enthusiasm about the reinstatement: “We are delighted to be able to serve Canberra once again. The nation’s capital, the political heart of Australia, rightly expects to be served by a range of international airlines, and I am proud that we are able to play our part in that.” Al-Meer highlighted the airline’s commitment to enhancing connectivity and providing passengers with superior travel options.

Al-Meer further emphasized the benefits of the partnership: “Whether travelling for business, government services, or leisure, our commitment to Australia, and to Canberra, is one that we know will bring much-needed healthy competition to the market and greater choice for passengers.” This strategic move is expected to provide travelers with more flexible and efficient flight options, strengthening Qatar Airways’ presence in the Australian market.

Stephen Byron, CEO of Canberra Airport, hailed the return of Qatar Airways as an “exciting and pivotal moment” for the region. “This service not only provides over a million residents access to a global network spanning more than 170 destinations but also invites the world to rediscover Canberra’s unique cultural, educational, and tourism offerings,” Byron stated. He added that the increased connectivity would foster economic growth and promote Canberra as a key international destination.

The relaunch of Qatar Airways’ daily flights is poised to enhance Canberra’s accessibility, making it easier for business travelers, government officials, and tourists to reach the city. With direct connections to major global hubs, passengers will benefit from shorter travel times and improved flight schedules, facilitating smoother and more convenient journeys.

Qatar Airways’ commitment to quality and innovation is evident in the new service offering. The airline’s investment in modern aircraft and premium services underscores its dedication to providing exceptional travel experiences. Passengers can expect not only comfort and luxury but also reliability and efficiency, hallmarks of the Qatar Airways brand.

Tickets for the new Doha to Canberra flights will be available for purchase starting early next year. Travelers can book their flights through Qatar Airways’ official website, mobile app, or authorized travel agents. The airline is also offering special promotions and discounts for early bookings, encouraging passengers to take advantage of the renewed service.

As international travel continues to recover and evolve, Qatar Airways’ decision to relaunch daily flights to Canberra demonstrates its strategic vision and adaptability in a dynamic aviation landscape. The enhanced connectivity between Doha and Canberra is set to boost tourism, business relations, and cultural exchanges, benefiting both regions and contributing to the global aviation network.

Qatar Airways’ relaunch of daily flights from Doha to Canberra represents a significant development in international air travel. With advanced aircraft, premium services, and strategic route planning, Qatar Airways is well-positioned to meet the evolving needs of travelers and support the growth of Canberra as a prominent global destination.
