Qatar Airways to Open Widebody Paint Hub with Satys and Barzan

Qatar Airways has announced plans to establish the Middle East’s first widebody aircraft paint facility using advanced digital technologies, in partnership with Barzan Holdings and Satys Aerospace. The new facility, located at Dukhan Air Base, will significantly reduce aircraft ground time for airlines across the Middle East and Indian subcontinent by eliminating the need to send aircraft overseas for repainting or livery changes.
Revealed on June 19, 2025, the project includes two widebody paint bays and a multipurpose hangar for light maintenance. It will serve commercial airlines, military fleets, and VIP aircraft, providing high-efficiency services powered by robotic and environmentally friendly painting technologies.
Qatar Airways Group CEO Mohammed Al-Meer said the facility represents a major step toward building national aerospace infrastructure. “This partnership delivers strategic aviation infrastructure that supports both Qatar’s and the region’s ambitions. We are committed to innovation and empowering local talent as we build capabilities aligned with Qatar National Vision 2030.”
The project is backed by Satys Aerospace, a leading aircraft surface treatment specialist with a global presence. CEO Christophe Cador emphasized the significance of this collaboration, noting the company’s goal of delivering “excellence in quality, innovation, and turnaround time.”
Qatar Airways, recently named Skytrax ‘Airline of the Year’ for 2025, says the new paint facility will not only streamline regional aircraft operations but also position Qatar as a key player in the global aviation services market.
The facility is set to boost industrial development, generate skilled jobs, and support Qatar’s ambition to become a leader in aviation technology.
