Responding to high demand, Quark Expeditions has announced a second voyage for the August 2026 solar eclipse. The newly unveiled 17-day itinerary will sail aboard the Ocean Explorer, departing from Reykjavik, Iceland, on August 3, 2026, and traveling into East Greenland’s High Arctic—directly within the path of totality.

Guests on this unique voyage will witness the rare celestial event from one of the most remote and pristine locations on Earth while also exploring some of the Arctic’s most striking landscapes. The expedition will visit Iceland’s secluded Möngufoss waterfall and continue into Northeast Greenland National Park, the world’s largest protected area. Highlights include a cruise through the 110-kilometer Kong Oscar Fjord, a stop at Blomsterbugten (Bay of Flowers), and exploration of sites such as Hofman Halvø, the Denmark Strait, and Nuuk, Greenland’s capital.

Astronomer Michael Zeiler, founder of Great American Eclipse and a member of the International Astronomical Union’s Working Group on Solar Eclipses, will accompany the voyage to offer expert insights on the eclipse and celestial navigation.

Catherine Lawton, senior director of product development at Quark Expeditions, noted that this new itinerary embodies the brand’s core values of pioneering exploration and immersive, transformative experiences. “Our first solar eclipse voyage to Antarctica set the standard two decades ago,” she said. “With the Arctic now as our stage, the Ocean Explorer joins the Ultramarine to deliver unmatched front-row eclipse encounters in August 2026.”

This marks Quark’s continued leadership in offering bucket-list polar expeditions paired with extraordinary astronomical events.
