Recaro CL6720 business class seat takes first flight
The Recaro Aircraft Seating (Recaro) CL6720 business class seat has taken its first flight in Air China’s A350 cabin. Flying from Beijing to Chengdu, the Air China aircraft also featured the Recaro PL3530 and CL3710 for its premium economy and economy cabins, respectively.
The new CL6720, also known as the “minisuite in the sky”, was first unveiled in 2020. Its lightweight structure, combined with its efficient seat configuration, aims to save on fuel costs and reduce carbon footprint.
Dr. Mark Hiller, CEO, Recaro Aircraft Seating, called the seat’s first entry into service “a special moment for Recaro”: “We enjoyed our close collaboration with Air China on this programme, and it resulted in a unique seating product that will be appreciated by so many travellers.”
“Although we take great pride in the hard work that goes into our seat designs, we always remember that it is the passengers who drive our innovations forward,” he added.
The business class seat was designed collaboratively by Air China and Recaro to create an individualised seat with significant comfort enhancement and functional optimisation plans.
Air China’s seat customisation includes a Chinese-style lamp in each suite, upper stowage with a drawer, privacy dividers and an Air China customised soft-touch back-shell.
