Bain Capital hopes to reap $1 billion from the proposed sale of Ooedo Onsen Monogatari, which operates of about 38 hot spring inns and resorts in Japan, sources say. The Boston-based investment firm bought the Japanese company for about $449 million in 2015 and tried to sell it two years ago.
