Resorts World NYC Reveals $5.5B Plan for Mega Resort by 2026

Resorts World New York City has unveiled a $5.5 billion expansion plan to transform its current Queens property into New York State’s largest fully integrated resort by July 2026. The proposal, submitted to the six-member Community Advisory Committee (CAC), outlines the redevelopment of the 73-acre Aqueduct site into a 5.6 million-square-foot entertainment and hospitality hub.
Key features of the project include up to 2,000 hotel rooms, a 7,000-seat live entertainment arena, 6,000 slot machines, 800 gaming tables, over 30 dining and beverage venues, a luxury spa, and more than a dozen acres of community green space. The project would also add over 7,000 parking spaces.
If approved, the expansion could generate up to 24,000 jobs and hundreds of millions of dollars in annual tax revenue for New York State.
“We’re proud to have grown with the Queens community for nearly 15 years,” said Robert DeSalvio, President of Genting Americas East. “Today’s proposal outlines a transformative project that will redefine entertainment in the borough, the city, and the state.”
DeSalvio added that Resorts World has delivered on its promise since beginning operations at the Aqueduct site in 2010, creating 1,000 union jobs and investing millions into the local community. The expansion, he said, is the next step in fulfilling their long-term vision.
Chief Legal and Strategy Officer Kevin Jones noted the plan is “almost risk-free” since all necessary land-use approvals are already in place.
Resorts World NYC opened in 2011 in Jamaica, Queens, near JFK International Airport.
