Rimbun Air (RI, Bandung) has taken delivery of its first ATR72-600, leased from Aircraft Finance Germany (AFG). The lessor confirmed in a February 17, 2025 statement that aircraft msn 1288 has been placed with the Indonesian carrier.

According to ch-aviation data, the 9.3-year-old aircraft previously operated for Amelia (8R, Paris Le Bourget) under the registration F-HGNU. It was ferried from St. Brieuc to Jakarta Halim via Al Ain and Hambantota between February 12-14 before being deregistered from France on February 18. The aircraft will now be registered in Indonesia as PK-OTR and is configured to seat 72 passengers.

While primarily a cargo charter airline, Rimbun Air operates a fleet of four Boeing 737-300(F)s and one Boeing 737-800(SF). It also operates a single passenger-configured DHC-6-400 Twin Otter, used for mining charters, aeromedical flights, and surveillance missions.

The newly leased ATR72-600 will be available for ad hoc passenger charters and will also be contracted for specific charter operations. This marks an expansion in Rimbun Air’s services, adding a regional turboprop to its cargo-heavy fleet.

With this lease, Rimbun Air strengthens its presence in Indonesia’s aviation market, potentially enhancing regional connectivity and passenger services alongside its cargo operations.
