Ritz-Carlton Luminara Debuts in Mediterranean

The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection is set to raise the bar on ultra-luxury cruising this summer with the launch of its third superyacht, Luminara, which will embark on its maiden voyage from Monte Carlo to Rome on July 3, 2025. During its inaugural Mediterranean season, the 794-foot-long vessel will welcome up to 452 guests in 226 suites, each featuring private terraces finished in dark oak, Emporada marble and smoked glass accents. Public areas designed by Chapi Design Luxury Division in Toronto and suites by London-based AD Associates will showcase a sophisticated palette of walnut wood, Arabescato Corchia marble, soft blues, warm grays and deep ocean hues punctuated by bronze and ruby accents. A curated art collection of 731 pieces, including works by Paul Klee, David Hockney, Alexander Calder, Henri Matisse, Gerhard Richter and Andy Warhol—with 65 percent commissioned exclusively for the ship—will line the hallways, inviting guests to experience a gallery at sea.
After a summer exploring the glittering ports of the Mediterranean, Luminara will journey through Africa and the Indian Ocean before embarking on Asia-Pacific itineraries in December. In May 2026, the superyacht will return to North America for an Alaska and Canada season, where glacier-framed fjords and wildlife-rich bays will unfold from the ship’s panoramic windows. Ernesto Fara, president of The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection, explains that Luminara—Latin for “light”—“unites legendary service, elevated design and an extraordinary onboard experience to further define our distinct approach to ultra-luxury travel at sea.” Guests will find five distinct dining venues crafted in collaboration with James Beard award-winners and Michelin-starred chefs Fabio Trabocchi and Michael Mina. Seta su Luminara, developed with Trabocchi, will present an eight-course tasting menu of modern Italian fare alongside an à la carte selection, while Beach House, Mina’s creation, will blend Middle Eastern and Mediterranean flavors. Additional venues include Azur with regionally inspired menus, Haesu Bit reflecting Asian coastal tastes and Mistral specializing in fresh seafood and grilled meats.
Adventure seekers will gravitate toward Luminara’s expansive Marina, Marina Terrace and Marina Beach, complete with a floating lounge platform that transforms the sea into a central pool. From this deck, guests can kayak, paddleboard, Seabob through the waves or pilot electric foiling boards, then retire to the panoramic pool area on Deck 10 to swim or soak in one of two jacuzzis. Wellness offerings include The Ritz-Carlton Spa’s 11 treatment rooms, where ESPA, 111SKIN and Pisterzi therapies restore body and mind. Retail experiences range from Cartier, IWC Schaffhausen and Piaget boutiques to The Boutique, which houses resort wear, exclusive co-branded Lululemon apparel, vintage finds and one-of-a-kind home décor items.
Tina Edmundson, president of luxury for Marriott International, underscores how Luminara continues The Ritz-Carlton’s legacy of immersive travel, commenting that the yacht is “a vessel designed for connection, discovery and the transformative power of travel.” From sun-drenched decks to candlelit dinners under the stars, Luminara promises to redefine ocean exploration with thoughtful itineraries, bespoke design and service that reflects the brand’s storied heritage. Whether charting a course through sapphire waters of the Mediterranean, tracing the windswept coasts of East Africa or chasing the Northern Lights off Alaska, the yacht delivers a seamless fusion of intimate yachting and legendary hotel-style luxury.
