Riu Palace Calypso Reopens After Major Upgrade and Sustainability Push

Hotel Riu Palace Calypso on Jandía Beach in the Canary Islands has reopened following a full renovation that enhances dining options, improves accessibility and maximizes sea views across the property. The refurbishment elevates the hotel to RIU Palace’s top tier and transitions it into the brand’s Adults Only concept.
The 4-star resort maintains its 248 rooms, all of which have been completely redesigned. Terraces now offer more expansive views of the Atlantic Ocean, while interiors feature a timeless, elegant style with a neutral palette that creates a calm, contemporary atmosphere for guests.
All communal areas have also been transformed. The expanded lobby has been redesigned to capture sea views from the moment guests arrive, using materials that enhance natural light and create a bright, modern feel without losing classic touches. New shared spaces include an outdoor lounge bar, an indoor bar and a solarium with Balinese beds that enhance the relaxed Adults Only ambiance.
Dining has been significantly upgraded with three distinct options. The addition of the Krystal gourmet à la carte restaurant complements the fully renovated main restaurant and snack bar, both designed to emphasize natural light and a clean, elegant aesthetic.
Aligned with RIU’s Proudly Committed sustainability strategy, the renovation incorporates major energy-efficient upgrades, including solar panel installations and a new saltwater pool chlorination system. All bathtubs have been replaced with water-saving showers, and flow-reducing filters have been added throughout the property. Accessibility improvements span all public areas, and the hotel now offers eight fully accessible rooms.
Riu Palace Calypso’s reopening marks the latest in a series of upgrades across RIU’s 16 properties in the Canary Islands—reinforcing the brand’s long-term commitment to its largest European destination by rooms and team members.
