Riyadh Air has finalized an order for 120 CFM International LEAP-1A engines to power its 60 Airbus A321neo aircraft, originally ordered in 2024. The agreement—signed on November 18, 2025, at the Dubai Airshow—includes spare engines and reflects the airline’s strategy to build a fuel-efficient, high-performance narrowbody fleet.

The deal was signed by Riyadh Air CFO Adam Boukadida and Safran Aircraft Engines CEO Stéphane Cueille, marking a significant step in the carrier’s fleet development. Riyadh Air will equip its A321neo aircraft with LEAP-1A engines featuring CFM’s latest high-pressure turbine durability kit, engineered to enhance performance in hot-weather environments typical of the Middle East.

“These engines deliver exceptional fuel efficiency, lower emissions and enhanced durability, supporting our vision of building a world-class airline,” Riyadh Air said in a statement.

The CFM LEAP engine family is among the fastest-growing programs in commercial aviation history, with more than 4,000 engines delivered to date. Key technologies—such as composite fan blades, ceramic matrix composites and advanced materials—enable a 15% reduction in fuel burn and carbon emissions compared with the previous-generation CFM56 engines.

LEAP engines also feature advanced health-monitoring systems and an open MRO ecosystem designed to ensure long-term reliability and maximize aircraft availability.

Launched in 2023, Riyadh Air is Saudi Arabia’s new premium international carrier, created to support the Kingdom’s broader economic diversification strategy and expand its global aviation footprint.
