Rolls-Royce Wins Engine Orders for 142 Aircraft at Paris Air Show

Rolls-Royce has secured contracts to supply 142 aircraft engines to customers in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Taiwan, and Vietnam. The orders include 90 Trent XWB-97 engines, 40 Trent 7000 engines, and 12 Trent XWB-84 engines, all produced by the company’s civil aerospace division in Derby, UK.
The deals follow a £1 billion investment into the Trent engine family aimed at enhancing durability, fuel efficiency, and overall performance. The announcement was made at the 2025 International Paris Air Show.
Ewen McDonald, Chief Customer Officer for Rolls-Royce Civil Aerospace, said the new orders will help protect skilled jobs in Derby and ensure strong production volumes well into the 2030s. “The market opportunity right now is very buoyant,” McDonald said. “It’s always rewarding to see Rolls-Royce succeeding and keeping our factories busy with long-term engine orders.”
The Trent XWB-84 engines, which power the Airbus A350, remain a cornerstone of Rolls-Royce’s widebody engine offerings. The Trent 7000, designed for the Airbus A330neo, and the high-thrust Trent XWB-97, developed for the A350-1000, are also part of this growing family of advanced engines.
The New Contracts:
- AviLease, based in Saudi Arabia, placed an order for 20 Trent XWB-97 engines to power 10 Airbus A350F freighter aircraft.
- Riyadh Air, Saudi Arabia’s newest national carrier, placed an order of 50 Trent XWB-97 engines that will power 25 Airbus A350-1000s.
- Taiwanese based Starlux Airlines placed an order for 20 Trent XWB-97 engines that will power 10 Airbus A350-1000 widebody aircraft.
- EygptAir has ordered an additional 12 Trent XWB-84 engines that will power six Airbus A350-900s, which takes the airline’s total order of Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-84 engines to 32.
- Vietnam’s Vietjet Air has placed an order for 40 Trent 7000 engines, that will power 20 Airbus A330neo aircraft.
McDonald noted that additional orders from the Paris Air Show are expected to be announced in the coming weeks, further strengthening Rolls-Royce’s position in the global aerospace market.
