Romania’s Bees Airlines Unveils Initial Route Network
Romania’s Bees Airlines is set to launch its operations in August with an initial network of eight destinations. The new airline, which received its air operator certificate (AOC) in March, will operate scheduled flights using two Airbus A320 aircraft from its base at Bucharest’s Henri Coandă International Airport (OTP). Additionally, the carrier will operate flights from Suceava in Romania and Chisinau in Moldova.
The inaugural route will connect Bucharest with Heraklion, Greece, starting August 5, operating twice a week until September 12. Following this, Bees Airlines will introduce flights from OTP to Prague, Tel Aviv, and Verona, Italy, later in August, and to Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden in September.
Bees Airlines will also launch services from Suceava Ștefan cel Mare International Airport to Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden and Tel Aviv, and from Chisinau Airport to Verona.
Despite sharing its name with the defunct Ukrainian LCC Bees Airlines, which ceased operations after the Russian invasion in February 2022, the Romanian Bees Airlines operates under different ownership and management. The trademark was acquired by new investors, but the airline is a fully Romanian entity with no connection to the former Ukrainian carrier.
The new airline will offer both scheduled and charter flights, focusing on low-cost services for scheduled routes. It plans to expand its fleet and route network based on passenger and tour operator demand, targeting leisure travel and the Romanian diaspora.
