After a suspension lasting nearly 15 months, Romania-based airline FLYYO (4D) has restarted its revenue flights, marking a significant turnaround in its operations. The airline executed a short-term ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance) lease contract with Tunisia’s Nouvelair (BJ), utilizing its sole A320-200 for operations.

The aircraft was repositioned from Craiova to Tunis on April 5, 2024. During its contract with Nouvelair, it flew rotations to Paris Charles de Gaulle and Lille Lesquin before returning to Romania the following day. This brief operational period on behalf of Nouvelair represents a pivotal moment for FLYYO, signaling a comeback into the aviation market after facing challenges throughout 2023.

Previously operating under the name Aerro Direkt, FLYYO had to halt its flight operations in early March 2023 following the termination of an ACMI contract with Air Moldova for its only A321-200. The subsequent period saw significant changes within the company, including an ownership transition and a rebranding to FLYYO. The airline also returned the A321 to Willis Lease Finance and took on a new A320 from Air Lease Corporation, with plans to expand its fleet with a second A320 expected by late April or early May 2024.

These strategic moves underscore FLYYO’s efforts to stabilize and grow its operations, despite the setbacks experienced in the previous year. The airline’s re-entry into active service through the ACMI contract with Nouvelair highlights its renewed focus on building a sustainable path forward in the competitive aviation industry.
