Routes Asia 2025 Connects Airlines & Destinations
The 21st edition of Routes Asia is set to bring together over 100 top airline executives and heads of network planning, facilitating more than 2,500 one-on-one meetings with airport and destination representatives. This pivotal event will enable key decision-makers from leading airlines to explore new route opportunities across Asia and beyond, driving the future of global air travel. Carriers such as Air China, AirAsia Group, British Airways, China Southern Airlines, IndiGo, Japan Airlines, Korean Air, Qantas, Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways, and Vietnam Airlines will be in attendance, underscoring the diverse mix of international operators actively shaping the region’s aviation landscape.
Alongside these airline leaders, Routes Asia 2025 will welcome more than 30 association and airline executives, government ministers, and expert suppliers as part of its comprehensive Conference Programme. Notable speakers include Subhas Menon, Director General of the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines, who will share his insights on the regional air travel outlook for 2025 and beyond, and Stefano Baronci, Director General of ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East, who will outline the drivers behind the current momentum in the industry. Abhijit DasGupta, Head of Planning & Revenue Management at IndiGo, is set to discuss the carrier’s strategies for network expansion and post-pandemic recovery, while Scott Zeglin, Head of Commercial Strategy & Performance at Qantas Group, will highlight key markets for Australia’s national carrier.
Hosted by Perth Airport and Tourism Western Australia, the event comes at a time of significant transformation for the region. Perth Airport, which handled a record 16.9 million passengers in 2024 and is currently served by 26 carriers, is undergoing a A$5 billion transformation to create a unified ‘one airport’ experience. This ambitious investment program aims to enhance capacity and efficiency, providing airline partners with the infrastructure needed to expand their connections into Western Australia. Recent developments at Perth Airport have seen airlines such as Emirates, China Southern, South African Airways, and TransNusa introduce, resume, or increase their services, highlighting the region’s growing appeal as a key aviation hub.
Steven Small, Director of Routes at Perth Airport, expressed enthusiasm for the event, noting that previous host destinations have experienced network growth of around 5.7% more than comparable airports within three years. Anneke Brown, Managing Director of Tourism Western Australia, emphasized that hosting Routes Asia 2025 is a significant milestone for the region, showcasing Perth as the Western Gateway to Australia and a burgeoning global aviation hub with immense potential for new route connections. Jason Waters, CEO of Perth Airport, remarked on the opportunity to welcome over 900 national and international aviation decision-makers, stating that Routes Asia provides a unique platform to promote Perth’s destination appeal while raising the profile of its world-class facilities.
Gareth Martin, CEO of Business Events Perth, highlighted that hosting Routes Asia marks a major achievement for Western Australia, opening doors to increased global connectivity and bolstering both business travel and leisure tourism. Additionally, Phillipa Harrison, Managing Director of Tourism Australia, credited the collaborative bid—secured by Tourism Western Australia, Perth Airport, Business Events Australia, and Business Events Perth—for the successful hosting of Routes Asia 2025. She noted that the event is poised to make a significant contribution to the local economy by unlocking new aviation opportunities and enhancing connectivity, ultimately making it easier for international travelers to visit Australia.
