Royal Caribbean Empowers Bahamian Artists

Royal Caribbean is set to bring local Bahamian creativity to the forefront with its new “Artist Discovery Program,” an innovative initiative designed to showcase the unique art, music, and performance culture of The Bahamas. This program is being launched in tandem with the opening of the Royal Beach Club Paradise Island, the first destination in the Royal Beach Club Collection, set to debut later this year.
The Artist Discovery Program invites both individual artists and teams from across The Bahamas to submit their best mural, sculpture, musical, or performance pieces. Royal Caribbean’s goal is to offer cruise guests an immersive experience that highlights the authentic creativity and vibrant cultural heritage of the region. By integrating local art directly into the guest experience, the cruise giant hopes to create a deeper connection between visitors and the distinctive spirit of The Bahamas.
Artists interested in participating are required to complete their submissions by March 28, 2025. Applicants must send five work samples, along with a comprehensive CV and an artist statement, to [email protected]. This process ensures that only the most innovative and talented local creators are selected for this prestigious opportunity.
Royal Caribbean has structured the selection process in two stages. The first round of selections is scheduled to be announced next month, followed by the final selections, which will be revealed in May. The chosen works will then be installed at the Royal Beach Club Paradise Island by July 2025. The grand unveiling of the installations is planned to coincide with the official opening of the resort in December 2025, offering guests a fresh and engaging cultural experience as soon as they step aboard.
The program is actively seeking large-scale murals, dynamic dance performances, live music acts, and expressive sculptures. These art forms are expected to transform the ambiance of the resort, making the destination not only a place for relaxation but also a vibrant showcase of Bahamian culture. In a statement, Philip Simon, President of Royal Caribbean Bahamas, said, “The Artist Discovery Program will ensure we authentically reflect The Bahamas’ enduring creativity and essence at our Royal Beach Club. We are excited to give our guests a deeper and immersive taste of The Bahamas by embedding local art at the center of the ultimate vacation experience.”
The initiative underscores Royal Caribbean’s commitment to cultural enrichment and community engagement. By providing a platform for Bahamian artists, the program is expected to bolster the local art scene while enhancing the overall guest experience. It also offers an economic boost to the creative community, giving local artists the opportunity to gain exposure on an international stage and potentially drive tourism interest in the region.
This creative venture is a natural extension of Royal Caribbean’s strategy to blend luxury travel with local culture. As cruise travelers increasingly seek unique and authentic experiences, the Artist Discovery Program positions the Royal Beach Club Paradise Island as a destination where art and travel converge. This approach not only enhances guest satisfaction but also sets a new standard for immersive cultural experiences in the cruise industry.
With the unveiling of this program, Royal Caribbean is poised to redefine how guests experience The Bahamas, transforming the resort into a living gallery of local art that celebrates the island’s rich heritage and contemporary creativity.
