Royal Caribbean Marks Milestone as Star of the Seas Floats Out
Royal Caribbean International’s highly anticipated ship, Star of the Seas, has reached a major milestone with its recent float out. The ship touched water for the first time during a ceremony at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland, marking the completion of 19 months of construction.
Scheduled to debut in August 2025, Star of the Seas will begin its journey from Port Canaveral, Florida. Crews continue outfitting the vessel, working toward the ship’s full realization. During the float out, 92 million gallons of water were added to the dry dock over nine hours, allowing the ship to float into the outfitting pier.
The 5,610-passenger ship will feature eight neighborhoods, 40+ dining and beverage venues, waterslides, and even a resident dog named Sailor. It promises a range of activities and entertainment for guests of all ages.
Bookings are now open for the ship’s inaugural voyages, offering 7-night Caribbean cruises. These itineraries will include a stop at Royal Caribbean’s private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay, along with other scenic Caribbean ports. Star of the Seas is set to be one of the most innovative ships in Royal Caribbean’s fleet, delivering a top-tier cruising experience.
