Royal Caribbean celebrated the official naming of its newest cruise ship, Utopia of the Seas, in a glittering ceremony held on July 15 at Port Canaveral, Orlando, Florida.

GRAMMY-winning artist Meghan Trainor served as the ship’s godmother, continuing a maritime tradition of blessing and safeguarding the vessel and its passengers. Trainor, joined by special guests, crew members, media representatives, and lucky contest winners, christened Utopia with an unforgettable ceremony.

“It’s an incredible honor to join the Royal Caribbean family as godmother of Utopia of the Seas and set the tone for the parties to come,” said Trainor. “The best part is that we get to bring that weekend energy to the stage with my family and fans. Let’s make some beautiful memories and get this party started!”

Following the christening, Trainor performed one of her hit songs at the ship’s AquaTheater, marking the beginning of Utopia’s preview sailing. This exclusive three-night voyage departs from Orlando, travels to Royal Caribbean’s private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay in The Bahamas, and features ongoing festivities.

Utopia of the Seas, an Oasis Class vessel, measures nearly 1,200 feet in length, weighs over 236,000 gross tons, and accommodates 5,668 guests and 2,290 crew members across its 18 decks. It boasts a variety of accommodations, dining options, entertainment venues, and recreational facilities, including innovative features like the largest dry slide at sea.

As Royal Caribbean’s second ship powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), Utopia of the Seas underscores the company’s commitment to sustainability, complementing its extensive eco-friendly initiatives.

Following its official debut on July 19 from Port Canaveral, Utopia will embark on a series of short roundtrip cruises from Orlando to Perfect Day at CocoCay and Nassau, offering three-night weekend vacations and four-night weekday voyages.

The christening of Utopia of the Seas with Meghan Trainor as godmother heralds a new era of luxurious and environmentally conscious cruising with Royal Caribbean.
