Royal Caribbean International has announced a partnership with Bahamian-based SEV Consulting Group to oversee environmental monitoring for the Royal Beach Club Paradise Island project, slated to open in Nassau, The Bahamas in late 2025.

SEV Consulting will play a critical role in monitoring the environmental impacts throughout both the construction and operational phases of the project. Currently, the group is overseeing the removal of over 1,600 non-native plants and trees to restore the island’s native habitat.

As the project progresses towards its 2025 debut, SEV will continue to ensure compliance with the Royal Beach Club’s Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Environmental Management Plan (EMP). These documents are vital in identifying and mitigating potential environmental impacts, helping to preserve the natural beauty of Paradise Island.

Philip Simon Jr., President and General Manager of Royal Beach Club and Royal Caribbean International Bahamas, emphasized the importance of environmental stewardship in the project’s development. “Protecting and preserving the natural resources of Paradise Island is essential for showcasing the island’s natural charm. The site has undergone significant changes over time due to previous neglect, and while restoration is necessary, the goal is to rejuvenate the island’s beauty,” Simon stated.

The Royal Beach Club project will include small-scale buildings, pools, lounge areas, limited operational facilities, and docks. SEV’s involvement will help ensure that these developments align with environmental regulations and best practices.

SEV Consulting Group’s Vice President of Environmental Policy and Planning, Stacey Moultrie, highlighted the group’s commitment to environmental protection. “Our role is to ensure that all construction and operational activities adhere to the Environmental Management Plan and comply with Bahamian environmental laws. This includes safeguarding marine turtle nesting sites and removing invasive species,” Moultrie said.

The collaboration between Royal Caribbean and SEV Consulting underscores the cruise line’s commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainable development. The project aims to enhance Paradise Island’s natural allure while contributing to the local ecosystem’s preservation.
