Royal Caribbean Reveals Exciting Details About New Ship Star of the Seas, Featuring Onboard Dog Sailor

Royal Caribbean International has unveiled new information about its upcoming ship, Star of the Seas, including a unique feature: a resident dog named Sailor. This 5,610-guest vessel is currently being constructed at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland and is scheduled to make its debut in August 2025. Star of the Seas will belong to the Icon-class, the same category as Royal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas, which is the largest cruise ship in the world.

Bookings for Star of the Seas opened in early December, and the ship will be homeported at Port Canaveral in Orlando, Florida, alongside the recently launched Utopia of the Seas. The ship will offer 7-day Caribbean sailings, including stops at Royal Caribbean’s private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay.

The new vessel will boast many of the popular features found on Icon of the Seas, such as the expansive Royal Promenade and the lush Central Park. Star of the Seas will also include The Hideaway, an exclusive adults-only area; Category 6, the largest waterpark at sea; and Surfside, a dedicated family neighborhood.

A standout feature of Star of the Seas will be its resident dog, Sailor, following the success of Rover, the beloved dog aboard Icon of the Seas. Sailor’s presence is expected to add a charming touch to the onboard experience.

In addition to these familiar amenities, Star of the Seas will introduce some new elements. The Empire Supper Club from Icon of the Seas is being reimagined as the Lincoln Park Supper Club, a venue inspired by 1930s Chicago that will offer a combination of multi-course dining and live entertainment.
