Royal Jordanian Airlines has expanded its cargo fleet with the introduction of a new Airbus A321-200PF freighter, a strategic move aimed at enhancing its service offerings in response to the growing demand within the cargo industry. This latest acquisition is a key component of the airline’s ambitious plan to expand its fleet to 41 aircraft in the foreseeable future, reflecting its commitment to becoming a leading player in the global air cargo market.

The newly acquired twin-engine, medium-haul A321-200PF freighter is a testament to Royal Jordanian’s forward-thinking approach to cargo transportation. Featuring a substantial cargo capacity, the aircraft can accommodate 14 pallets and container positions on the main deck and an additional ten on the lower deck, offering a total payload capacity of 28 tons over a range of 3,500 kilometers. Leased on a long-term basis from UMBF, this freighter stands out for its versatility, including the capability to transport containers on the main deck for swift loading and unloading processes, thus promising highly efficient flight operations.

Royal Jordanian’s Vice Chairman/CEO, Samer Majali, highlighted the airline’s efforts in advancing the air cargo sector through strategic initiatives aimed at boosting sales and enhancing service quality in terms of speed, quality, and accuracy. The airline’s vision is to solidify Jordan’s status as a pivotal logistics hub in the region and to capture a larger share of the freight market both regionally and internationally. This vision is supported by the investment in a fully automated new cargo terminal designed to accommodate all types of cargo products.

Majali expressed optimism for a new phase of growth in the cargo sector, which is expected to contribute significantly to Jordan’s economic development and support Jordanian exports globally. This optimism is further bolstered by the ongoing modernization of Royal Jordanian’s fleet, including the introduction of new aircraft and the completion of a project to update and expand the fully automated air cargo services building. Such developments are pivotal to Royal Jordanian’s strategy to establish Amman as a central hub for the Middle East and a key gateway for regional trade.

The introduction of the A321-200PF freighter follows Royal Jordanian’s earlier fleet enhancements this year, including the addition of two new 195-E2 jets for short-haul destinations. The airline’s fleet expansion plan also encompasses additional Embraer 195 and 190-E2 regional jets, narrow-body A320/A321 neo aircraft, and wide-body Boeing 787-9 aircraft. With these strategic fleet enhancements, Royal Jordanian aims to expand its route network to reach 60 destinations worldwide in the coming years, reinforcing its position as a major contender in the international air cargo and passenger transport arenas.
