Royal Jordanian (RJ) is reaching a milestone by entering its sixth decade of service. RJ was launched by His Majesty King Hussein in 1963 and has since been an ambassador of goodwill and friendship to other cultures, and a bridge that facilitates tourism and trade with the world.

Today, under the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II, RJ, which has greatly progressed and modernized, continues to play this role and consolidate its outstanding local and regional position.

RJ Vice chairman/CEO Samer Majali expressed appreciation to the Jordanian government for its continuous interest in the airline’s journey and its keenness to continue to carry out its duty as Jordan’s flag carrier, a role through which RJ contributes to the Jordanian economy and that makes it a major employer.

He also commended the staff for the hard work and the retirees who built this company, highlighting their vital role in ensuring the success of the company.

Royal Jordanian has a major contribution to the tourism sector. It carries out activities that help project Jordan as an attractive tourist destination, such as participating in international tourism and travel fairs and international exhibitions, being a major partner and official carrier of participants in different local and international festivals and conferences, all to promote and position Amman as the leading gateway in the Levant. RJ also offers discounts to inbound tourist groups and operates charter flights during peak tourism periods.

Majali also said that RJ continues its ambitious strategy that helps it achieve sustainability and preserve the environment by introducing, for example, environment-friendly aircraft in its fleet. It will also continue to exercise its corporate social responsibility role towards the local community by sponsoring various activities and events, and helping Jordanian youths boost their development and innovation.
