Rules exception paves way for Extell’s NYC hotel tower

Extell Development’s plans for a 51-story hotel tower in Midtown New York City have won approval, taking advantage of a Theater District exemption for some projects from the city’s new special permit requirement for new hotel construction. The Real Estate Board of New York has advocated for exemptions for hotels in the Theater District and several other locations.
