Russian Sukhoi Superjet 100 Aircraft Crashes Outside Moscow, Killing All on Board

A Sukhoi Superjet 100 passenger plane crashed Friday outside Moscow, killing all three crew members on board, according to Russian state news agency TASS. The crash reportedly occurred during a test flight, with no passengers on board. Authorities are investigating the cause of the fatal incident.

The crash as on Friday 12 July 2024 at 15:00 local time, the aircraft was a Sukhoi Superjet 100-95LR operatored by Gazpromavia, with registration: RA-89049. There were 3 fatalities, they were all crew members. The flight departed Lukhovitsy-Tretyakovo Airport at 14.52, with an expected time of arrival at Vnukovo Airport of 15.40 hours. Last radio contact with the flight was at 14:58.

The crash comes amid a series of issues with Russia’s flagship plane, the Sukhoi Superjet 100. Developed by the Russian aerospace company Sukhoi Civil Aircraft, the Superjet 100 was the first all-new commercial Russian aircraft produced after the end of the Soviet Union.

Previous SuperJet Crashes Raise Concerns
