Ryanair Adds 1.5 Million Seats for Holiday Season to Meet Rising Demand
Ryanair has announced plans to add over 1.5 million additional seats across its network for the upcoming Christmas season to accommodate surging travel demand. “It’s fantastic to see such high demand for travel over the coming weeks as people prepare for their Christmas flights,” said Jade Kirwan, Ryanair’s Head of Communications, encouraging early bookings.
The airline had previously advised passengers as early as August 2024 to book Christmas flights to and from Dublin Airport (DUB) early due to fare increases resulting from Dublin Airport’s traffic cap. Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary noted at the time that one-way fares from London to Dublin were already approaching €100 ($108) and anticipated they could reach €500 ($540) as seat availability diminishes.
Ryanair’s proactive seat expansion follows strong December performance last year, when the airline carried 12.54 million passengers, up from 11.52 million in December 2022.
