SalamAir Plans to Lease 10 More A320s for Expansion

SalamAir (OV, Muscat) plans to expand its fleet with 10 additional A320 aircraft over the next three years, as it accelerates network growth and new route development. The Omani low-cost carrier confirmed in a press release that it has submitted formal requests to multiple aircraft lessors to support its five-year expansion strategy.

The airline attributes its surging demand to its return to low-fare pricing, with passenger numbers rising 20% to 3.2 million in 2024.

“Our low-fare approach has been highly successful, with full aircraft and demand exceeding capacity,” said SalamAir CEO Adrian Hamilton-Manns. The airline now aims to launch flights to underserved destinations.

SalamAir currently operates a fleet of:

  • Six A320-200Ns
  • Five A321-200Ns
  • Two A321-200NX(LR)s
  • One A321-200(P2F)

Additionally, the airline expects five E195-E2s and two more A321LRs in 2025, bringing its total fleet to 16 aircraft.

Earlier plans to lease A330-900Ns were scrapped in favor of additional A321neo(LR)s, which the airline says are performing well.

From its Muscat hub, SalamAir serves 39 destinations in 16 countries, including Bangkok, Delhi, Dubai, Istanbul, and Jeddah, with newly approved routes to Yerevan, Nairobi, and Mogadishu.

With its fleet expansion, SalamAir aims to increase connectivity across the Middle East, Asia, and Africa.
