Sandos Hotels & Resorts has announced the renaming of Sandos Caracol Eco Resort in Playa del Carmen to Sandos Caracol Nature Resort & Water Park, signaling a refreshed identity following extensive renovations.

The 955-room Riviera Maya property recently underwent a multi-million-dollar upgrade that included enhancements to dining venues, guest rooms, common areas, and the addition of new cenotes. The transformation also introduced an adults-only beach club, further diversifying the resort’s offerings.

In its statement, Sandos said the new name represents “a new era of prosperity,” reflecting the resort’s emphasis on connecting guests with nature, Mayan cultural traditions, and eco-friendly experiences. The rebrand highlights the property’s commitment to sustainability and immersive programming designed to showcase the natural beauty and heritage of the region.

A key feature emphasized in the new name is the resort’s expansive water park, which boasts 29 slides and is included for all guests as part of the all-inclusive package. Sandos described the park as a “central element of the Caracol vacation experience,” now placed at the forefront of the resort’s identity.

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort & Water Park blends luxury, adventure, and eco-consciousness, offering guests activities ranging from cenote swims to cultural demonstrations. The updated branding aims to position the resort more clearly as both a family-friendly destination and a nature-focused retreat, strengthening its appeal in the competitive Riviera Maya hospitality market.
