SAP Adds Generative AI Assistant Joule to Concur Platform

SAP is integrating its generative AI assistant, Joule, into its Concur platform, aiming to streamline travel and expense management through automation. Joule will be embedded in Concur Expense by Q2 2025, assisting employees with filing reports by answering questions, identifying errors, tracking missing expenses, and offering personalized recommendations to complete submissions.

Later this year, Joule will also be available in Concur Travel, SAP’s corporate travel management tool. The AI assistant will help with offsite meeting planning, offering destination suggestions and estimating travel and accommodation costs. The feature is currently available through SAP’s Early Adopter Care program.

The announcement was made at the SAP Concur Fusion event in Seattle, where the company showcased its ongoing investment in touchless, AI-powered user experiences. “We’re creating a world where travel and expenses practically manage themselves,” said Chris Juneau, SAP’s senior vice president and head of product marketing at SAP Concur.

SAP Concur also unveiled an expanded partnership with American Express, introducing real-time authorization data for corporate card purchases. The new feature will automatically generate and categorize expenses—starting with meals—and notify users of company expense policies via mobile alerts.

In addition, SAP Concur is growing its Mastercard integration, which supports automated expense entry at the time of purchase. Concur Travel now also includes American Express Global Business Travel’s hotel marketplace, adding access to over two million properties in 180 countries.

These enhancements aim to simplify workflows for employees, travel managers, and CFOs, setting a new standard for integrated travel and expense management with the support of SAP Business AI.
