SAS Faces Strike Action by Norwegian Cabin Crew Associations NKF and SNK

Scandinavia’s leading airline, SAS, is encountering operational disruptions as cabin crew associations NKF and SNK in Norway have initiated a strike as of August 23. This strike follows two days of mediation by the National Mediator’s office, which unfortunately did not result in a resolution between SAS and the two unions.

The strike is part of the ongoing negotiations for a new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) renewal. SAS remains committed to returning to mediation in hopes of reaching a swift agreement. The airline’s priority at this time is to minimize disruptions to its flight schedule and provide support to affected customers through rebookings and updates.

While the strike impacts a limited number of flights, the majority of SAS flights are expected to operate as scheduled. Passengers are advised to visit flysas.com for the latest flight information and updates before heading to the airport.

SAS extends its apologies for the inconvenience caused by this situation and is working diligently to resolve the conflict as quickly as possible. The airline believes it is feasible to reach a mutually beneficial agreement that satisfies Norwegian cabin crew members while maintaining the company’s competitiveness.

Despite SAS’s efforts to accommodate the cabin crew’s demands regarding pay and working hours, an agreement has not yet been reached. It is also crucial to acknowledge that SAS is nearing the end of its reconstruction process under bankruptcy protection, and the impact of this strike needs to be carefully evaluated.
