SAS Scandinavian Airlines Introduces EuroBonus Conscious Traveler Program to Promote Sustainable Travel

Share

In January 2024, SAS Scandinavian Airlines is set to launch the EuroBonus Conscious Traveler program, offering EuroBonus members the opportunity to make environmentally conscious choices when traveling with SAS while being rewarded for their efforts. This initiative is part of SAS’s commitment to making sustainable travel options more accessible to its customers throughout their entire journey, from booking to arrival.

The primary objective of the EuroBonus Conscious Traveler program is to engage SAS customers in the journey towards achieving net-zero CO2 emissions by 2050. It aims to raise awareness and inspire travelers to opt for sustainable choices during their journeys.

SAS is dedicated to reducing its environmental footprint across various aspects of its operations, including waste reduction, recycling, weight reduction for onboard products, and the introduction of fuel-efficient aircraft. As part of its commitment, SAS will begin purchasing biofuel for all staff travels starting from December 1st.

Notably, SAS will discontinue carbon offsetting for EuroBonus travelers and shift its focus towards actively reducing emissions. The airline believes in the importance of scaling up the production of sustainable aviation fuels and investing in emerging technologies to promote sustainable flying from the outset.

Aron Backström, Vice President of Product & Loyalty at SAS, stated, “The launch of EuroBonus Conscious Traveler reflects this reality and is a contribution toward the industry target of net zero CO2 emissions by 2050 – perhaps our most important journey yet.”

Through the EuroBonus Conscious Traveler program, SAS aims to encourage travelers to play an active role in supporting sustainable travel and, in return, earn rewards for their commitment to making environmentally conscious choices.

As the aviation industry continues to focus on sustainability, SAS is taking significant steps to align with these goals and involve its customers in the journey towards a more eco-friendly future.

How It Works
