SAS Scandinavian Announced as Official Carrier for Routes Europe 2024
SAS Scandinavian Airlines has been officially named as the Official Carrier for Routes Europe 2024, a premier route development event scheduled in Aarhus, Denmark, from April 22-24, 2024. The airline, operating from key hubs in Copenhagen, Oslo, and Stockholm, is set to connect over 100 European destinations in the summer of 2024 with its extensive fleet of more than 80 aircraft. SAS is recognized for its high-frequency departures throughout Scandinavia, linking smaller regional airports to major hubs, a pivotal role in supporting Aarhus, the host city for Routes Europe 2024.
Aarhus, Denmark’s second largest city and the fifth largest in the Nordic region, is gearing up to host over 1,200 influential figures from the route development sector in April 2024. This event will be a key platform for airlines, airports, and destinations to collaborate on shaping future air connectivity in the region.
Sustainability is a major focus for both SAS and Aarhus. The airline aims to slash its total CO₂ emissions by 25% by 2025 and transition to fossil-free domestic flights by 2030. Concurrently, Aarhus is striving to achieve a carbon-neutral status by 2030. Conference attendees will gain insights on sustainable aviation practices that align with industry profitability from industry leaders.
Steven Small, the director of Routes, expressed excitement about SAS’s involvement as the Official Carrier, emphasizing the enhanced flight frequency to Aarhus during the event for a seamless delegate experience. Erik Westman, SAS’s Chief Revenue Officer, conveyed pride in SAS’s selection as the Official Carrier, highlighting the significance of this partnership with Routes Europe and Aarhus Airport. David Surley, from Aarhus Airport, also welcomed SAS’s role, noting the airline’s significant contribution to the event’s success due to its robust connectivity and exceptional service.
