SAS to begin A321neo(LR) ops in late 3Q21

SAS Scandinavian Airlines (SK, Copenhagen Kastrup) will begin A321-200NX(LR) operations towards the end of the current summer season, just under a year after it took delivery of its first aircraft of the type.

Though SE-DMO (msn 9541) was delivered in October last year, it has yet to begin revenue operations largely because of COVID-19 related lockdowns on either side of the Atlantic. Flightradar24 ADS-B data indicates that the jet operated a series of test flights from late January until late February, since which it has largely been dormant.

In a statement released last week, the Scandinavian carrier said its first A321neo(LR)-operated route would be a 3x weekly Copenhagen Kastrup-Boston service, which will start from September 1.

As previously reported, SAS will primarily use its longhaul-capable narrowbodies to ply thin transatlantic routes. As of April 30, 2021, SAS has been expecting two A321neo(LR)s to deliver by the end of its current financial year (October 30, 2021).
