The Best Hiking Trails in Saudi Arabia
There’s plenty to do and see across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia but adventure seekers are especially in for a treat as the country offers some spectacular hiking trails highlighting otherworldly nature as well as ancient history. Saudi Arabia offers trails and paths for all fitness levels so there’s something for every visitor, whether they’ve come to spend multiple days in nature during an extended stay or simply put a scenic hiking tour on their itinerary as part of a shorter trip. But deciding on the right path is important and these six journeys can’t be beaten.

Jabal Al Lawz
Translating to “Almond Mountain,” Jabal Al Lawz is the ideal trail for snow-seeking hikers. At over 8,360 feet, this is the tallest mountain in the Tabuk Province and, in addition to snowy winters, visitors can discover rare ancient carvings of now non-existent bovines.

The Caravan Trail
The Caravan Trail is an ancient road stretching just under two-thirds of a mile that’s believed to be hundreds of years old. Hikers can find it about 45 minutes from Riyadh. Despite its short distance, the trail is rocky and steep. However, there is a staircase and seating areas for visitors to recover on their way to view the stunning Tuwaiq.

Edge of the World
Also referred to as Jebel Fihrayn, the Edge of the World is the ideal culmination of a satisfying hike through winding desert trails running along the ridge of Tuwaiq. Visitors to Riyadh will be just a 90-minute drive from this natural wonder and although they’ll have to work to get to the top, the breathtaking views will be well worth it.

Jabal Sawda
Hikers will also want to head to Asir National Park to scale what is thought to be Saudi Arabia’s tallest mountain peak at well over 10,000 feet. An ideal destination for hiking, climbing and camping, visitors will also find a large walkway near the summit for a casual and scenic stroll.

Camel Owners Trail
For the ultimate hike through history, there’s the Camel Owners Trail dating back a whopping 10 centuries. Curious visitors will find this incredible path roughly 35 minutes from the city of Taif in Saudi Arabia’s amazing Alhada Mountains.

Moon Valley
An hour’s drive north of Jeddah, Moon Valley wows with its magnificent rock formations, gorgeous sunsets and sensational stargazing opportunities after the sun has gone down. The hike here is of normal difficulty making it a popular course for visitors of all fitness levels.
