Saudia Earns 11th IOSA Renewal, Sets New Benchmark in Aviation Safety

Saudia, the national carrier of Saudi Arabia, has reaffirmed its position as a global leader in aviation safety by securing the renewal of its IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) certification for the 11th consecutive year. This year’s renewal, conducted under the newly implemented Risk-Based IOSA (RBI) framework, marks a major milestone for the airline and highlights its adoption of cutting-edge safety oversight methods designed to proactively identify and mitigate risks.
The IOSA certification, established by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), is the world’s leading benchmark for airline operational safety. Under the RBI framework, assessments are now tailored to each airline’s unique risk profile, moving beyond traditional one-size-fits-all auditing. The new approach leverages real-time data analytics and performance metrics to create a more predictive and targeted safety evaluation process.
For Saudia, meeting the RBI’s enhanced requirements underscores the strength of its safety culture and the resilience of its operational systems. The 2025 audit evaluated eight core areas of the airline’s operations—organizational management, aviation security, flight operations, dispatch, in-flight services, maintenance management, ground operations, and cargo handling. Saudia not only met but exceeded the RBI framework’s stringent standards across all categories.
“Safety is our top priority,” said Capt. Mohamed Dahduli, Vice President of Safety, Aviation Security & Quality at Saudia. “Renewing our IOSA certification for the 11th consecutive year demonstrates the unwavering dedication of our teams and our commitment to exceeding global aviation safety standards.”
The introduction of the risk-based methodology represents a shift toward a more dynamic, data-driven model of aviation safety. By focusing on key operational risks, airlines can implement preventative measures that enhance safety outcomes across the industry. Saudia’s early adoption of this model places it among a select group of global carriers at the forefront of this transition.
This renewal also supports Saudia’s broader vision to maintain world-class operational excellence as it expands its global footprint. With a growing fleet and new international routes, the airline continues to prioritize safety innovation as a core pillar of its strategy.
By achieving its 11th IOSA renewal under the advanced RBI framework, Saudia has once again set a new benchmark for safety and reliability—solidifying its leadership position in global aviation.
