Saudia Launches First Direct Flights from Dammam to Beijing Daxing Airport
Saudia, the national airline of Saudi Arabia, has inaugurated its first direct flight from King Fahd International Airport (DMM) in Dammam to Beijing Daxing International Airport (PKX), marking the start of twice-weekly service on this new route. The inaugural flight departed on October 28, 2024, expanding Saudia’s reach into China from Dammam as part of a connecting flight from Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz International Airport (JED).
With this launch, Dammam joins Jeddah and Riyadh as the third Saudi city with direct Saudia flights to Beijing, enhancing the airline’s connectivity between the Kingdom and China. Saudia now offers approximately 1,310 weekly seats between Saudi Arabia and Beijing through four flights and an additional 1,966 weekly seats to Guangzhou across six flights, both served by Boeing 787 Dreamliners.
Mohammed bin Ali Al-Hassany, CEO of Dammam Airports Company, highlighted the strategic importance of this route in diversifying Dammam’s international connections, supporting economic and tourism growth in the Eastern Province. He noted a 16.2% increase in passenger numbers at King Fahd International Airport from January to September 2024, reflecting strong demand.
Since launching its operations to Beijing, Saudia has carried over 84,890 passengers across 482 flights. Between January and September 2024, Saudia transported 78,560 passengers between Saudi Arabia and Guangzhou, a 19% year-on-year increase, demonstrating the growing demand for travel between the Kingdom and China.
