Margaritaville at Sea has announced that Savannah Buffett, the eldest daughter of the iconic Jimmy Buffett, will serve as the godmother for its newest cruise ship, the Margaritaville at Sea Islander. This announcement marks a significant milestone for the Buffett family and the Margaritaville brand.

The Margaritaville at Sea Islander, a vessel accommodating 2,600 guests, is set to embark on its maiden voyage from Tampa on June 14. The ship offers a range of cruise durations, from 4 to 7 nights, with itineraries including Key West, Cozumel, and Progreso. Originally built in the early 2000s as the Costa Atlantica for Costa Cruises, the ship was acquired last year by Margaritaville at Sea and is currently undergoing extensive refurbishments to align with the Margaritaville theme.

Savannah Buffett expressed her enthusiasm about her new role, saying she looks forward to “rendering the right concoction of love and luck” to ensure the ship sails through “smooth, untroubled waters.” She views her appointment as a tribute to her family’s long maritime heritage, stating, “As a descendant of captains and boat builders, I accept this honor in tribute to the legacy of my seafaring ancestors. Cheers to many a lovely cruise!”

Having grown up traveling the world with her father — on tour buses, sailboats, seaplanes, and more — Savannah brings a wealth of experience in travel and culture. Her career has been diverse, encompassing roles such as a creative and musical consultant, hosting a radio show on SiriusXM’s Radio Margaritaville, and co-authoring children’s books like “Jolly Mon” and “Trouble Dolls” with her father.

John Cohlan, CEO of Margaritaville Holdings, emphasized the significance of this role for Savannah and the Buffett family, noting, “Jimmy would be thrilled that Savannah is the godmother of the Islander. With his eldest daughter holding this honor, the christening of the Islander will be a very, very special day for all of us.”

This appointment not only honors Savannah Buffett’s familial legacy but also strengthens the bond between the Margaritaville brand and the Buffett family, promising exciting and memorable experiences for guests aboard the new Margaritaville at Sea Islander.
