Scoot Expands Fleet with Delivery of First E190-E2

Scoot, the Singapore Airlines Group subsidiary, has reached a significant milestone with the delivery of its first E190-E2 aircraft. Here’s a closer look at the delivery and what it means for the airline’s expansion plans:

Delivery Ceremony: The handover ceremony took place on April 11, 2024, at the Embraer facility in São José dos Campos Professor Urbano Ernesto Stumpf Airport. The aircraft, registered as PR-EEW with manufacturer serial number 19020127, marks the beginning of Scoot’s fleet renewal and expansion strategy.

Flight Route: Following the delivery ceremony, the E190-E2 embarked on its journey to Singapore, making stops in Gran Canaria, Athens, Baku Heydar Aliev International, Hyderabad International, and Phuket. It arrived at its new base on April 15, ready to commence revenue operations.

Expansion Plans: Scoot plans to deploy the E190-E2 on routes to non-metro airports across Southeast Asia, enhancing connectivity to both existing and new destinations. The aircraft is scheduled to start revenue operations on May 7, serving routes to Krabi and Hat Yai. Additionally, Scoot will utilize the E190-E2 to replace aircraft on routes to Kuantan and Miri, as well as launch new services to Koh Samui and Sibu.

Strategic Importance: Leslie Thng, CEO of Scoot, emphasized the significance of the E190-E2 in the airline’s network growth strategy. The addition of these regional jets underscores Scoot’s commitment to meeting the evolving demand for air travel and providing customers with enhanced connectivity options.

Fleet Expansion: Scoot’s acquisition of the E190-E2 is part of a broader fleet expansion plan, with a total of nine aircraft expected to be delivered by the end of 2025. As the first Singapore-based carrier to operate the type, Scoot is poised to strengthen its position in the regional market and offer passengers a modern and efficient travel experience.
