Search for Missing Flight MH370 Suspended by Ocean Infinity
The renewed search for Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 has been suspended, according to Malaysia’s transport minister. The update comes more than a decade after the Boeing 777 vanished in one of aviation’s greatest mysteries. Ocean Infinity, the U.S.-based marine robotics company leading the effort, has paused the mission due to unfavorable seasonal conditions.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke confirmed that the suspension is temporary, stating that “it’s not the season” for underwater search operations. He emphasized that Malaysia remains committed to finding the aircraft and will support Ocean Infinity when the search resumes under better conditions.
Flight MH370 disappeared on March 8, 2014, while en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing with 239 people on board. Despite extensive international search efforts over the years, only a few pieces of debris believed to be from the aircraft have been recovered, and the main wreckage has never been located.
Ocean Infinity first conducted a search in 2018 using autonomous underwater vehicles but was unsuccessful. In 2024, the company launched a second mission, offering to operate on a “no find, no fee” basis. The suspension marks another delay in what has been a decade-long effort to solve the MH370 mystery.
The Malaysian government previously stated it would consider a new search if there is credible evidence regarding the aircraft’s final location. Ocean Infinity has not disclosed when it plans to resume the search, but officials expect efforts to continue once sea conditions improve. The mystery of MH370 remains unresolved and continues to capture global attention.
