Seven Seas Navigator Reborn as a Luxury Residential Cruise Ship
Seven Seas Navigator is set for a luxurious second act as it transitions from a traditional cruise ship into an exclusive residential vessel. Built in 1999 to accommodate 490 guests, the ship is leaving the Regent Seven Seas Cruises fleet and joining Crescent Seas, a new residential cruise line spearheaded by Crescent Heights. The transformation is part of a $230 million deal between Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. and Crescent Heights, signaling a bold move into the world of floating luxury homes.
Under the terms of the agreement, Crescent Seas will secure a long-term lease on Seven Seas Navigator. The ship will undergo an extensive $50 million refurbishment project led by renowned design firms Lissoni & Partners, Journey, and MAWD. Once the transformation is complete, the vessel will boast 210 upscale residences, with prices ranging from $750,000 to $8 million. This innovative conversion will redefine the cruising experience, allowing residents to enjoy a lifestyle that blurs the line between luxury living and world travel. Residence sales are scheduled to open on April 9, and the revamped Navigator is set to embark on its new journey in December 2026.
Crescent Seas plans to expand its fleet with the announcement of four additional residential ships over the next five years, offering more opportunities for those seeking an unconventional and luxurious way to explore the globe. Russell W. Galbut, a founding partner of Crescent Heights and former board chair of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, explained that the idea for this project emerged from listening to travelers’ desires. “After spending so much time on the seas, we noticed that travelers yearned for more,” Galbut said. “People on the ships kept telling us they wanted to live this luxurious lifestyle. So, we decided to select ships with the right configurations to convert to the most magnificent cruising yachts.”
Residents of the transformed Seven Seas Navigator can expect an itinerary that covers all seven continents. The residential cruise ship will offer extended stays in iconic destinations, allowing occupants to spend two to three days at each port—from the tropical beauty of French Polynesia and the rugged landscapes of the Faroe Islands to the exotic allure of Madagascar. With the onboard hospitality services managed by the Apollo Group, guests can indulge in world-class dining, personalized service, and an array of leisure activities that redefine the traditional concept of vacationing.
Galbut further emphasized the innovative spirit behind the project, noting, “With most of the earth’s surface covered by water, it only felt right to use our 50 years of development expertise on land, to create the most magical residences at sea. Why vacation to just one gateway city when you can be at home and live in all the greatest gateway cities around the globe? We are delighted to be able to provide luxury homes to people that will carry them to places they’ve only dreamed of.”
